Yesterday the kids and I went to my in-laws house to make gingerbread houses. It is a Christmas tradition we have done the past couple of years with Bob's family and the kids love it. This year my Mom was able to come as well, which was a real blessing. Here is a shot of our work area before we got started.
I worked together on a house with Audrey, and my Mom worked with Nathan. This worked out well because Nathan lost interest after about 20 minutes and my Mom was able to finish it for him.
Here are a couple shots of the kids while they were decorating.
Audrey helped me until our house was completed and she was very proud of our masterpiece. :)
This is a shot of the grown ups putting the finishing touches on their creations.
After we were done the kids were able to play all afternoon in the yard with their cousins. I was able to drink coffee and sit and visit with family. Overall it was a wonderful day and I am looking forward to our next Christmas tradition which is....cookie baking!!! Yummy!! :)

How fun! I had just looked at a kit somewhere. I have never tried one but they sure do look like fun.
What fun! And your houses are adorable!
Last year we made a gingerbread Christmas tree with the boys as part of our Advent celebration. They liked it so much that we are going to do it again this year, only this year we are going to make a house. I hope that ours turns out as cute as yours did.
I love the holidays.
Sigh...
Big hugs,
Amy:)
Indiana Jones doesn't have time to make gingerbread houses! LOL!
We love to do this every year, either at home or with our homeschool group.
Fun stuff!
Looks like you all had fun! Give my love to Bobs family..especially Don and Elsie :) They ve always been so sweet to me..we are so blessed to like our in laws, huh? LOL Happy Holidays already!
I want to make one! LOL, man, you guys certainly had a loot of goodies to work with :) I would've had a major case of temptation with all those tasty looking treats around a table *sneaky grin* We are making them too this year; but, not until I get through all this Thanksgiving stuff my kids are wanting to read/learn LOL. What a blessing for you to have an extended family to get together with :)
We did our first gingerbread house projects last year the day after Thanksgiving. Fun!! I decided then and there that we'd make it an annual tradition for the day after Thanksgiving. I'm scouting the ads for a sale on them. P.S. Happy belated birthday.
Stacy :-)
