Never Say Never

Do you ever notice how people without kids have a list of things they swear they will never do when they have children of their own? Do you also notice that most of the time their list goes out the window once their first child arrives? I know this was the case with Bob and I. I swore that I would never let my child have a pacifier because I did not like seeing toddlers walking around with them in their mouths all the time. Well, Nathan had a pacifier until he was 3 years old. It helped him sleep as a baby and that was all I cared about. When we were first married Bob despised "A Small World" ride at Disneyland, and said he would never go on it with me or our children. Guess what ride we went on the first time we took Audrey to Disneyland when she was 16 months old? You guessed it! Now we go on it every time we go to the Park.

Another thing I said I would never do was go camping. I know a lot of people enjoy camping as a family vacation, but it just never sounded appealing to me. I camped as a child when I was in the Girl Scouts, but that was a long time ago. I didn't mind sleeping on the ground without a shower as a kid, but at 36 it just didn't sound like fun to me. Then once we had kids I thought there was no way I was going to camp with babies, diapers, bottles, etc. No thanks! Because of this attitude I had Bob affectionately called me a "camping snob". Well guess where we are going next weekend? Camping at the beach with Bob's family. You know the weird part? It was my idea to go and I am actually looking forward to it. Here is a picture of the tent Bob bought yesterday that the kids like to call the "Darth Vader Tent". Can you see the resemblance?

The kids are so excited to go camping and they can't wait. I am excited that the tent has a room divider and that I will be sleeping on a queen size air mattress. LOL!

I love that they saw Darth Vader....I love how children think....Now I see him too.

My family and I like camping, but once it gets too hot, I can't stand it. I am very much a lover of all things air conditioned.:)

I have never been camping at the beach, but that sounds like a lot of fun to me.....And a queen size air mattress....Sweet!;)

I can't wait to hear all about it!
God Bless,
Amy:)

P.S. My Daniel sucked his pacifier until he was four.....But like I said to all of my critics, "He won't go to college with it!"....And I was right!:)

Love pacifiers, love camping!! Once you go you will be hooked. But Amy is right there are only a few windows of opportunity when the temps are just right!
Have fun!!

Hey, My kids could totally see Darth Vader. Very cool. We'd love to go camping. We need to start collecting stuff again. Jon and I went camping all the time as newlyweds. We've never taken the kids though. The tent is way, way too small.

LOL! It does look like Darth Vader!

I am the opposite. For years I have begged DH to go camping because I had such fond memories of it as a child. Now,after going a couple of times and battling the bugs, the mess...not to mention the lack of toilets :-P
Just give me a nice hotel with a pool and maid service! ;-)

I hope that YOU have a wonderful time, though!
