Week in Review

This week we began Unit 32 in Little Hearts. We are continuing to learn about important people in American history. This week we read about Thomas Edison, Theodore Roosevelt and Douglas MacArthur. Today our activity was to make an army tent out of paint and construction paper since we read about General MacArthur being in the Army and going to West Point. The kids decided they would rather make a tent/fort in Nathan's room. Below is a photo of their tent which they played in all morning.

Read-Alouds: Bob and Audrey finished The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe in less than a week. She absolutely loved this book, and Bob plans on reading her the entire Narnia collection. We finished Uncle Wiggily today, and will finish Mr. Popper's Penguins next week. Audrey enjoyed both of these books as well and is looking forward to starting Peter Rabbit next week.

Math: Audrey completed lesson 150 today. Only 10 more to go. YAY!!Can you tell I am looking forward to a break. :) This week she worked on telling time, counting money, and addition.

Phonics/Reading: We began Lesson 11 in ETC today which is the last lesson in this book. We should finish book 2 sometime next week. Audrey is continuing to improve her reading skills and I enjoy hearing her read to me.

Science: Here are the library books we read for science this week. Audrey enjoyed learning about farm animals for the last 2 weeks and informed me that she wants a horse. Since this is not an option for us, she will have to settle for riding around the house on her stick horse. :)

I like the fort.:)
Reading to them and letting them build "forts" in the house are the kinds of things that they will treasure as they grow older....You and Bob are great parents!

God Bless,
Amy:)
