Some of you may be wondering why I have not been posting much on my blog lately. Part of the reason was the fact the I was focused on finishing school and completing my leadership responsibilities at BSF (Bible Study Fellowship). Another big reason is that I have a new obsession that has taken up a lot of my spare time. In the past month and a half I have become a "Coupon Queen" as Audrey would say. My friend Amber turned my onto the world of couponing at the end of March, and I am so glad she did. In the month of April I was able to cut our grocery budget by 25% and I am hoping to cut it by even more in the months ahead.
You may be wondering how I was able to save so much on my grocery budget, so here is an example for you. This is a photo of some things I bought at Vons today that cost me only $10.00. The full retail price for all of these items is $32.53 so my savings was $22.53 or 70%.
One of the keys to getting good deals is to buy items when they are on sale and that you have a coupon for. Here is a break down of my transaction so you can see what I did.
Granola Bars-Regular price $15.96 for 4 boxes
-$5.96 Vons Club
-$4.00 Vons in ad coupon
-$1.75 Manufacturer coupons (I had 2 coupons for .75 off 2 boxes and Vons doubled the first one up to $1.00)
=$4.25 for 4 boxes or $1.06 per box
Dole Pineapple-Regular Price $2.39
-$1.00 Vons Club
-$1.00 Manufacturer coupon (.50 coupon doubled to $1.00)
=$.39
Skippy Peanut Butter-Regular price $7.10 for 2 jars
-$3.10 Vons Club
-$ .51 Vons in ad coupon
-$ .75 Vons coupon that printed with my receipt the last time I was there
=$2.74 for 2 jars or $1.37 each

=$1.50 for a 4 pack

Awesome! I didn't know that Vons still doubled coupons! I drove by Ralphs and they had a sign saying they did also! I need to call and get the specs on that! I don't have any near me, but that never stopped me from getting a deal..lol
