Every year for Thanksgiving we go to my in-laws house for yummy food and great fellowship. Bob has the most amazing family and I love getting to spend our holidays with them. His parents have an "open door" policy on the holidays. This means that anyone who has nowhere to go is welcome to their home. They definitely have the gift of hospitality and they have been a blessing to many people. My mother-in-law Elsie is also a wonderful cook and her homemade stuffing is to die for. :) I was so touched and impressed by Bob's family when we first got married that I affectionately nicknamed them The Waltons.
I have always meant this nickname as a compliment. They are the most loving, welcoming and godly people I have ever met and I am blessed to be part of their family. :)
Anyway, Elsie always goes all out when setting her Thanksgiving table. Here is a shot of the table before we sat down to eat.
You may not be able to see in the shot of the table, but each person has there own name card showing them where to sit. Here is a picture I took of mine.
Here is everyone enjoying the yummy food. I took this shot from the "kids" end of the table. I used to have to sit at this end when my kids were small, but this year I got moved up to the "big" people end of the table. Woo Hoo!!
Here are Nathan and Michael at the end of the kids table. This was the only time all day when Nathan took off his Indy hat. :)
After we stuffed ourselves with turkey and pie we decided to go for a walk. The kids wanted to come with us, but instead of walking they rode quads. My kids love riding quads at Grandma & Papa's house. Nathan has been riding one since he could reach the pedals. Here they are getting ready to go on our walk.
Here they are driving down the street. Aunt Pam is out in front making sure there are no cars coming.
I hope you enjoyed a glimpse into our Thanksgiving Day. I hope you all enjoy the rest of your holiday weekend. God bless!! :)
