Bob took the camera with him, but he did not get a ton of shots because the kids were catching so many fish he did not have time. He told me that as soon as Nathan put his line in the water he got a bite and reeled it in. He proceeded to catch a bunch more fish, including this one.
Audrey turned out to be quite the fisherman. She got a total of about 20 fish, and by the end of the afternoon was baiting her own hook. I thought that was pretty impressive because Bob had bought live bait, garlic night crawlers to be exact. Not only did she put the worms on the hook, but she had to tear them in half before she did it. I am a pretty adventurous person who loves the outdoors, but all I have to say is.....Eewwwww!!! Here is a shot of Audrey with her first fish. Sorry about the quality, Bob took this one with his cell phone.

Here are a couple more cute photos of the kids that Bob took.
As you can see, the kid's first fishing trip turned out to be a huge success. I'm not sure who had more fun, Bob or the kids. Bob was so excited when he got home and he just loved spending an afternoon alone with the kids. He was stoaked about the fact that Audrey took to fishing so well and that she did it non stop for 3 1/2 hours. The kids are already asking him when they can go again.
Some of you may be wondering what I did for the 4 1/2 hours that my family was gone. Like I said, I enjoy nature and being outside, but fishing is just not my thing. Being the wonderful husband that he is, Bob totally understood me wanting to stay home. Anyway, being a homeschool Mom it is not very often that I have an afternoon to myself, so I wanted to make the most of it. I thought about all the laundry I could get done, all the cleaning I could do, or all the lesson planning I could work on. Instead I decided to plant myself on the couch and watch an episode of my favorite show.
Yes, it's true, while my family was away I watched 6 episodes of Alias!! This show is no longer on the air, but it is still my favorite show of all time. When it was on the air I had a major addiction to it (kinda like the one I have now with Monster) and I never missed an episode. Now that I have the special edition complete collection seasons 1-5, I can watch it whenever I want.
And that is just what I did yesterday. I would not describe myself as a couch potato, but every now and then it is nice to just veg out in front of the TV. I don't do it very often, but I enjoy it when I do. I bet all of you in Blogland did not realize I was a Monster drinking, Alias watching, closet couch potato. :)
God bless!!

I just feel even closer to you now that I know the truth about the real you....that you are a "Monster drinking, Alias watching, closet couch potato." ;) We are probably related....except that I have never seen Alias....but if you like it that much, I should probably give it a look (or six). ;)
I can't believe she was able to handle the bait all by herself...I'm impressed! I still get Shannon to do all of that dirty work if I go fishing..I just sit there and try not to complain too much while I wait to catch my first of six sticks in the water.;)
Tell hubby that he is good people!:)
God Bless,
Amy:)
Oh love the new bloggy design!!
What a good daddy he is! I bet you felt like you needed to check on someone while sitting on the couch huh..lol.
Sounds like you had a great day!
mmm..mmm love me some garlic night crawlers!! Baiting her own hook is quite the accomplishment,I was a grown woman before I could do that. My hubby and I went through the whole series of Alias last summer from the library. Then we moved onto Firefly. Good stuff!!
I am so bummed.
Paul and I both got fishing licenses this year...and how often did we take the kids fishing???
Once! (And none of us caught even ONE fish!) :(
Glad to see your kids fared better! ;-)
Blessings,
Michelle
PS - I LOVE the new template and header!
I love the new look. Very cute! Those fish pics are so cute. Don't you love the way they just hold those little fish up? I have some of my boys like that. So cute. Sounds like you had a great time yourself. Who wants to do lessons plans when you have free time? Are ya' nuts? LOL!
