Week #22 in Review

This week in Little Hearts for His Glory we studied the Reformation of the Church. We read about Martin Luther and John Calvin and their desire to teach God's message of salvation by grace through faith in Christ. Our memory verse this week was Acts 16:31 Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved. One of the many reasons I enjoy the Little Hearts program is because of the way it always ties the bible memory verse to what we are learning each week.

Phonics:
This week in First Reader we continued with silent "e" words. I like the way the silent "e" is highlighted in red to help Audrey remember to change the vowel sound. She is getting better at reading sentences with both short and long vowel sounds in them. I am still really liking Explode the Code because of the solid phonics instruction and daily writing practice.

Handwriting:

Math:
This week in math subtration, telling time to the 1/2 hour, and 2 halves equal one whole were introduced. Audrey did well with the new concepts and I will be glad when she can tell time on her own.

Science:
This week we learned about Elephants and Panda Bears. As you can see I found a really cute panda mask craft online.

Next week we will begin studying the first Settlers in America, and will be learning about rabbits in science. Have a great weekend!

How fun! I finally got ETC #3 in the mail today. I'm going to ditch Abeka Letters and Sounds and start Snap Dragon on Monday. He is excited. He likes the looks of it much better then Abeka (so do I). I bought books #4 and 5 for next year but we'll let him go at his own pace.

I really enjoy your weekly updates. I've missed you this week.
