Week in Review

We just completed our second week of school and I am pleased with how it went. We did have some moments of drama and a few tears, but overall it was a good week. We are starting to find our "groove" and the kids are getting used to our schedule each morning. Here are some highlights from our week.

In Little Hearts we read about Noah's ark. Here is Nathan with his ark made out of aluminum foil in our bathroom sink. He was supposed to put different objects in it to see how much weight it would hold before it sank. He lost interest in that after a couple minutes and decided to sink it and play in the water instead.

Nathan decided to show up to school this day with a pirate hat on. Who am I to argue with Captain Jack Sparrow?! :)

Audrey is continuing to enjoy our study of the seashore. Here she is painting a picture with water colors to make it look like an underwater scene.

Here is her completed masterpiece.

This was a really fun science experiment she did to answer the question: "How do bird's beaks help them get food?" I used pancake mix to be the sand and raisins, Rice Chex, and Rice Crispies to be the bird food. For the different size bird beaks we used tweezers, a clothes pin, and pliers. She had to pick up each kind of food with each beak, and see which one worked best for each size of food. Audrey also loaned me some of her seashells and rocks to make it look more authentic.

This is her science notebooking page for the week.

Lastly, this is a shot of the cursive writing she did today. She is continuing to do well with it and enjoys it very much.

I hope you enjoyed a glimpse into our week. Have a wonderful weekend. God bless! :)
