Last week before I left for my weekend getaway I had "one of those days" as a Mom. As a result I had a "Mommy Moment" that I am not very proud of. You know, one of those times where you let your anger get the best of you and you begin to speak very loudly to your children. Am I the only one this happens to? Anyway, I was annoyed with Nathan for breaking yet another toy, and then throwing it away in frustration. He then began to cry because he realized he had acted in haste, and he wanted the toy back. Well guess who ended up digging through the trash to get it back for him? You guessed it....me! Did I mention this toy is about an inch long with 2 arms and 2 legs that are each about 1/2 inch long? Did I also mention that I was hormonal? Anyway, after finding all 5 pieces in the trash, Nathan proceeded to ask me if I felt bad for him because his toy was broken. Instead of being sympathetic toward him I said, "No I don't feel bad for you!! You broke your toy, you threw it away, and I had to dig through the trash to get it!!" Not a very nice response I know, but that's what I said.
As all of this was going on Audrey left the room and came back and gave me this piece of paper.
I asked her why she gave it to me and she said she wanted to remind me that God is always watching us, and that I should have been nicer to Nathan. Talk about being convicted!! I told her thank you for the reminder and she said, "Did you forget?". I told her no I had not forgotten, I just acted like I did.
I love how God uses our children to convict us and to remind us of who He is. I saved the piece of paper she gave me as a reminder that not only are my kids watching me, but more importantly, so is God.

And no, my sweet bloggy friend, you are not the only one this happens to. I had a similar moment only a couple of weeks ago myself. I'm not proud of it either, but one positive is that our children get to see us apologize and take responsibility for our actions...which God willing will lead them to do the same.
And another positive...you are teaching your children well. God is smiling at you!:) And me too.:)
God Bless,
Amy:)
Mommy moments...Yes, we all have them. I love how your dd responded. Wow! So true. Thank you for sharing this. Great post and nice blog.

OUCH!!
No you are not the only one. This is a particular area that the Lord and I are working on day to day. Sometimes even moment to moment.
Audrey's tender heart is a testimony to your wonderful Mommy skills!! : )And the Holy Spirit too!
My daughter's heart and love of God is a great testimony to me. You are a wonderful Mother.
Love
Mom
