Our Camping Trip: Part One

We got back from camping at the beach last night and once again we had a wonderful time. Bob was able to get a couple days off work so we were able to stay for 4 days. The weather was beautiful while we were there and we had a blast spending time together as a family. On this trip Bob spent some time behind the camera, so we have lots of great pictures of our adventures. Because of that, I am going to spread our trip out over a few posts. There are so many fun things I want to share, and I just can't get it all in in one post. So please bare with me. :)

With our past trips we arrived at our camp site late in the evening, but this time we arrived in the early afternoon. It was nice to be able to help Bob's parents set up camp and then have time for the kids to play on the beach after dinner.

Arriving earlier also gave us a chance to see this beautiful sunset. Isn't God's creation amazing?

Later in the evening my sister-in-law Pam, brother-in-law John, and niece Katelyn showed up. Here is Nathan enjoying a cookie on Katelyn's lap.

One thing I forgot to mention about this camping trip is the fact that we were at a different site than on the previous 2 trips. It sounds like a minor detail, but in fact it wasn't. On a positive note, we were much closer to the ramp that goes down to the beach and all of our stuff fit nicely on this site. On the other hand, we were much farther away from the bathrooms. Now this is no big deal for me during the day because I don't mind the walk. But I began to wonder how this was going to work out for my middle of the night potty breaks. I don't know about you, but after having an 8 lb and a 9 1/2 lb baby, my bladder does not function as well as it used to. Let's just say that it would take an act of God for me to hold my bladder all night. I'm not trying to be gross, I'm just saying is all. It is pretty sad when your 4 year old can hold his bladder longer than you can. Anyway, being the handy man that he is, Bob came to my rescue. He took the port-a-potty out of my in-laws tent trailer and built me a bathroom right on our camp site. I was kind of apprehensive about using it at first, but when nature calls, what are you gonna do? It actually turned out to be a great idea and lets just say that I was not the only one who used the "facilities". Because I know my friend Amy has a "thing" for bathrooms and frogs(see the lantern hanging on the fence), I took this photo just for her. :)

That about wraps up our first night. I will post more photos soon. God bless!

LOL!:)

I love it, Gina!
I'm so glad that toilets and frogs make you think of me.;)
Your husband sounds like good people to me.;) And he is clever!
Shannon is going to get the biggest kick out of this post when he gets home.

Don't feel bad about the not being able to hold it all night thing; I can't hold it either.;)(But let's just keep that between us.)

I love the sunset picture too....It gave me goose pimples all over...I can't imagine how beautiful it must have been to see it in person. Especially with the sounds of the ocean all around.

Sigh.

I'm looking forward to more!
Thank you for thinking of me, sweet friend!

God Bless,
Amy:)

I LOVE it...and I am going to show this to my husband ASAP...because I am right there with you about not being able to hold it all night!

When we go camping my personal rule is ...no drinks after 5pm, stay up as late as possible, make ONE last run to the bathroom before bed...and just MAYBE I'll be able to hold it until morning. (Our last camping trip we were far from the potties, too. I ended up RUNNING through the campground in the middle of the night, praying that I made it on time. I'll bet the other campers thought...Why on earth is someone running at 3AM?)

I NEED one of those outhouses like yours - LOL! (and the frog is too cute!)

Thanks for the sunset picture....and thank the Lord for the sunset.
Glad you had a great time and glad to see you back in Blogland!

Love your port a potty idea! We will have to build something like that when we go camping! We just camped about a month ago and had to walk far to get to the bathrooms, hills, bears, and all.:) i was very apprehensive!!

Looks like you had a great time!
Do you tent camp or us a tent trailer?

All your pics are great!
