I told her that she could keep whatever she wanted as long as it fit in the box. This has been working very well so far, and today she even asked me to help her clean it out. It was a very proud Mommy moment for me that it was her idea to throw things out. Normally I have to do it when she is not looking.
Anyway, as I was helping her decide what to keep and what to pitch, she pulled out a craft she had made at church. She looked at me and said in a very serious tone, "Mommy, I have to keep all the crafts I made at church because when I look at them they make me think of my Savior." WOW!! I was floored by what she said, but also very proud of her. I love how God gives us glimpses into our children's hearts to encourage and uplift us. I am so thankful that Audrey treasures those things that remind her of her Savior.

Smart girl and smart mommy!:)
I love the treasure box idea, and I loved the little glimpse into her heart. Sigh.:)
Gina, I love that idea!!!! I too have a little pac rat... all those sunday school papers and tiny papers, etc. I think we will try that. Where did you find the box?
We do the same thing calling it their "Special Box" but ours are not NEAR as pretty as Audrey's treasure box. I love that Jesus is in her heart and I know as a Mama you do too!!
Wow! How cool was that to learn that Audrey's heart is full of love for her Savior!
Your treasure box is a very clever idea.

What a pretty & "girly" treasure box! I had something similiar as a child that I saved all the way up until 3 years ago when our house flooded during Katrina. It was about the same size with unicorns on it.It was always neat to look back at what I did in school, church, etc. My kiddos even thought it was cool to see how their mommy colored. Your dd certainly has her priorities straight when it comes to what needs to be thrown away huh? LOL
