Week in Review

This week in Little Hearts we read about the New England Colonies and how God used people like Jonathan Edwards to help lead the colonists back to following God. For scipture memory this week we went back and reviewed the last 5 weeks verses. I really like how this program has the review scheduled in so each verse memorized is reinforced. We are almost finished reading Charlotte's Web and Chatterer the Red Squirrel. Once we are done we will begin the Adventures of Buster Bear and another Burgess book of Audrey's choice.

Math:
This week we continued to work on subtraction, counting money, skip counting, and beginning fractions (1/2, 1/3, and 1/4).

Reading /Phonics:
Here is a sample of what Audrey worked on in ETC Book 2 and First Reader. I am thinking about continuing with ETC 3 and First Reader for next year.

Handwriting:
We are almost done with A Reason for Handwriting K. I will probably just do my own thing for the rest of the year instead of starting another program. I am still deciding what I want to do for handwriting for next year.

Science:
This week for science we read about skunks, bats, and porcupines. I actually learned a great deal this week about these animals and Audrey had a great time coloring pictures. I included a copy of her narration about bats. I have her do a narration for every animal we study and we put a copy of it in her science notebook.

Next week we begin studying George Washington and I already have the books for our study of Koalas. Have a great weekend!

A wonderful week! I'm trying to decide what handwriting to do with Snap Dragon for the rest of the year also. I might just go ahead and start R&S.
