Week #20 in Review

This week in Little Hearts for His Glory we learned about the spread of christianity and we read about several missionaries in Europe in History for Little Pilgrims and History Stories for Children. Our memory verse for the week was Psalm 119:105 "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path."

Phonics/Writing:
We finished up with silent e words this week in First Reader and worked on lesson 2 of ETC Book 2. I like these books because they are great at teaching phonics, and they also give Audrey a chance to practice writing.

Math:
This week we continued with addition, place value, and counting by odds and evens. Audrey is doing well with Horizons and I plan to continue with it for 1st grade.

Read Alouds:
This week we read 3 books about Polar Bears for science and began a new Burgess book for our read aloud. Audrey loves these books and I have ordered more for us to read over the summer.

I need to finish Grandfather Frog. Snap Dragon loves that book but I've been spending tons of time on Buttercup's math. So I've been flaking. I just need to DO IT! LOL.

Since you are right about where we are in First Reader, I'm wondering what level of ETC you use. Snap Dragon is really hating Abeka's Letters and Sounds. It is tons of marking vowels and circling special sounds. He cannot stand it! He liked the one ETC book we did (but it was one of the earliest books and almost 2 years ago). I'm tempted to try them again.
